daz[ies] (2020) for Lindsay Hicks

(solo piccolo and & tape)

daz[ies] is a work that explores the sonic realm between piccolo and tape (backing track). The piece utilises quoted material from The Hunger Games referencing, fragmenting and repurposing the “Deep In The Meadow” lullaby (Jennifer Lawrence version), in the form of covered vocals by Lindsay Hicks.

In this work I aim to offer a stretched snapshot in time where you can imagine yourself on the grass coddled in the safety of daisies, allowing any good or bad thoughts you may have to fixate on and then disperse.
