“In its fourth round, the Export Development Fund supports 85 projects with international ambitions.
Creative Australia has announced the recipients of the fourth round of support through the Export Development Fund, marking a year since the establishment of the initiative.
The Music Australia program has granted over $1 million to 85 musical projects across the fields of contemporary music – popular, contemporary classical, art music and jazz – with international ambitions. The Fund supports projects across three different categories: Performance & Touring, Professional & Artistic Development, and Market & Audience Development.
In the Professional & Artistic Development field, Melbourne-based composer Connor D’Netto has been named as a recipient of the funding, and will undertake a three-week residency in France at Chateau d’Orquevaux.
Composer Robert McIntyre has also been selected as a recipient in the Market & Audience Development category. McIntyre’s work A Sea Spray of Ash was chosen to represent Australia in the 2025 ISCM World New Music Days in Portugal.
In the Performance & Touring category, composer Anthony Pateras, Ethio-jazz group Black Jesus Experience, composer-violinist Jane Aubourg, drummer and composer Maria Moles and New York-based jazz guitarist Quentin Angus are among those to have received funding.
Contemporary violinist Xani Kolac (who recently opened for Polish pianist Hania Rani) has also been selected as a recipient, under the Performance & Touring Activity category. Hand to Earth, Brisbane jazz pianist/singer Joseph Machen and Emily Gann, arts leader and founder of Connecting the Dots in Music, have also earned funding.
Alongside McIntyre, saxophonist and composer Joshua Hyde and Perth-based composer Lydia Gardiner have both been selected under the Market & Audience Development category.
Since its establishment 12 months ago, the Export Development Fund has supported over 330 Australian musical projects. It provides matched funding from $3000 – $15,000.
Applications for the next round of funding close on 1 April.”
