Win! – 2022-23 Leslie Barklamb Flute Composition Competition (Intermediate Piece Division)

I’m so thrilled to announce that my work ‘Feathers Taking Flight’ (2018 rev. 2022) for flute and piano has won the 2022-23 Leslie Barklamb Flute Composition Competition for the Intermediate Piece Division!

This means it will become the set piece for all 18yr and under flautists competing in this division, and have three rounds of these flautists performing it alongside staple repertoire for one to receive a prestigious Leslie Barklamb Scholarship.

It was selected through a blind marking process of 5 panelists against 36 other works by Australian composers in this division, and I am just over the moon for it to be picked from this competitive pool.

This also means so much personally to me being a flautist because the notion that my music will be part of such an impactful initiative and performed by young, aspiring flautists is so heartwarming.

Thank you to the panel and to the The Victorian Flute Guild, Melbourne, Australia and Melbourne Composers' League and for making this 50th Anniversary competition possible!! I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds!
